Last weekend me and Florence were feeling a bit down about Portugal (bank troubles, bluurgh) so we decided to get out and explore Coimbra for the afternoon.  Here are some pics!

This is the Praça do Comercio, a huge square just next to our houses.

We went up the Torre de Almedina, a museum next to the Quebra Costas, which had a great view.

One of the streets leading off the Quebra Costas. Look at the umbrellas!

The view over the river from the top of the umbrella street.

Sé Velha, the main cathedral (this is another day… forgot to take a photo of outside when we went)

Our new friends… Some of the weirdest church carvings I’ve seen in a while

To the University!

At the University!

We ran into this weird ceremony just outside the university, we think one of the girls was graduating and her friends were all singing for her. It was lovely and all until they started tearing up her clothes and left her just in her underwear and cape… Oh Coimbra.

So yep that’s mine and Florence’s quick tour of Coimbra! We’ll hopefully be exploring more throughout the year, but I hope you liked this little update…
